National parks near Khao Lak
All of these national parks can be visited on your own on day trips from Khao Lak (entrance fee 100, 200 or 400 baht per person).
We have not found a tourist location worldwide that is surrounded by as many national parks as Khao Lak.
Locals especially use the bathing areas intensively on weekends.
In Phang Nga Province:
Khao Lak - Lam Ru NP (5 km, Chong Fah waterfall, jungle) Entry: 100 baht
Koh Similan Marine NP (14 km to Thap Lamu harbor, islands, coral reefs, world class diving) Admission: 400 baht (+200 baht for divers)
Khao Lam Pi - Hat Thai Muang NP (30 km, Lam Pi waterfall, mangroves, sea turtles) Entry: 100 baht
Ao Phang Nga Marine NP (65 km to the port, world class: boat trip to limestone cliffs, mangroves, James Bond Island, canoe trips through sea caves) Admission: 200 baht
Sar Nang Manora Forest Park (55 km, no NP, but just as worthwhile, waterfalls, bathing spots, jungle) no entry
Sri Phang Nga NP (55 km, Tam Nang waterfall, jungle, hiking trail of 1 1/2 hours) Admission: 100 baht
Mu Ko Ra - Ko Prathong NP (96 km to the port, islands, mangroves) no entry yet
Mu Ko Surin Marine NP (96 km to port, islands, corals, world class snorkeling) Admission: 400 baht
In Ranong Province:
Laem Son NP (157 km, mangroves, beaches, islands) Admission: 200 baht
Koh Phayam NP (180 km, islands, mangroves) no entry yet
Namtok Ngao NP (190 km, Ngao waterfall)
In the province of Surat Thani:
Khao Sok NP (72 km or 129 km, evergreen monsoon forest, waterfalls, bathing spots, tree houses, reservoir with limestone cliffs, floating bungalows) Admission: 200 baht
